IT IS STRAWBERRY SEASON, and Bubub knows well!
From January to June strawberries ripen in Spain. This red, sweet and juicy fruit finds lots of sunshine and the perfect temperature to thrive in the South of Spain, being Huelva one of the provinces with the largest strawberry plantations from where they are exported throughout Europe.
During the harvest the precious fruits are carefully arranged in wooden baskets. They are delicate and bruise easily. They keep fresh only for a few days after being picked, so they are the ideal candidates to end up as a colourful ingredient in jams or smoothies.
Strawberries have a really high content of Vitamin C, even more than many citrus fruits. 100 g of strawberries will provide the RDA of this Vitamin. Its high water content, 85%, makes it refreshing and diuretic, and its bright colour gives it high antioxidant properties.
Bubub has one of the tastiest and most original ways of preparing a strawberry jam with a touch of green pepper; a real grown up treat!
It is ideal on toast, but will work wonderfully as a topping on cheese cakes or as a filling in sponge cakes. It’s strawberry season!!
